Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Only my BEST eggs are shipped. This means that it will take me time to gather your order before it is sent to you via USPS Priority mail. Eggs are unwashed and in exact condition left upon laying. Let eggs rest for 24 hours prior to placing into the incubator for best results. This allows the air sack to settle.

  • Eggs are sold on a first come, first serve basis and packaged in the order received. Our hatching season has begun and we are working to fill orders.

What Equipment Do I Need for Egg Incubation?

To successfully hatch eggs- you will need an incubator, preferably with automatic temperature and humidity controls. Additionally, an egg turner, a hygrometer to measure humidity, and a thermometer are essential.

How Long Does It Take for Eggs to Hatch?

The length of the incubation period varies depending on the species. Chicken eggs typically take around 21 days to hatch, while ducks & turkeys require approximately 28 days.

What Temperature and Humidity Levels are Necessary for Incubation?

Temperature and humidity levels play a vital role in the success of egg incubation. For most bird eggs, the ideal incubation temperature ranges between 99°F and 101°F6, while humidity should be maintained around 40-60% during the first 18 days and increased to 65-75% during the last few days. If you live in the South or in a coastal region- look into “dry hatching” and consider if it may work better for you!

How Can I Tell If an Egg is Fertilized?

To determine if an egg is fertilized, you can perform a process called candling. Candling involves shining a bright light through the shell to examine the embryo's development. Fertilized eggs will showcase intricate networks of blood vessels and a visible embryo. Infertile or damaged eggs will appear clear.
